Dancing has always been a big part of the Latin culture. Latin music is bound to make anyone begin to move their body, regardless of their descent. From the Salsa to the Tango, everyone around the globe is very familiar with this genre of sound. These melodies make appearances in restaurants, most night clubs and even weddings.

One of the most popular Latin dances is the Rumba. Born in the Afro-Cuban genre, this dance has been called the most sensual and erotic, due to its slow beat and the ways it makes the dancer move their hips. There are three forms of this dance: Cuban, Early American and Balloon Rumba.

The Rumba is danced all over the world in American style or International style. The dance steps to both these styles are extremely difficult, and one must have moderate experience in Latin music and dancing to catch on quickly. For the American style, there are eight tricky steps inexperienced dancers would not know from reading the names. The International version proves to be even harder. This Rumba consists of 17 dance steps and is a lot more complex.

It is very important to learn the Rumba through dance lessons. These lessons are offered at most dance organizations in major cities. Lessons range in price, depending on the instructor and the length of the course. Learning this art form through dance lessons is much easier and makes the learning process a much more fun experience.

For some, lessons are very time-consuming and can put a dent in their wallets. In this case, there are many different ways to learn the Rumba without an instructor. First, there are videos that show the step by step routine for this dance style. These instructional tapes can be purchased at local department stores such as Target, or purchased online at Amazon or Ebay. On average, a How-To-Rumba DVD will cost about $20, including shipping. The videos also come with a booklet, showing each step in case the video is moving too quickly.

Another way to learn the Rumba is to get a tutorial on CD. There are many CDs available that play the music in the background while telling the participant what steps to take. CDs can also be found in department stores and all over the internet at an average cost of $15, including shipping.

While the Rumba is a famous Latin dance, it is celebrated all over the world because of its uniqueness and sensuality. Latin music has been influencing society for hundreds of years, and the allure of the Rumba is one reason why.
